Sapura Energy Secures Vessel Contracts Worth RM100m in Malaysia and Thailand
Malaysian offshore services player Sapura Energy has recently announced that it has won several vessel contracts totaling around RM100m ($22.6m) in Malaysia and Thailand. These contracts are a testament to the company’s continued success and strong presence in the offshore industry.
One of the contracts involves the provision of 200-pax-capacity workboats, KPV Redang and Sapura Duyong, for offshore operations in East Malaysia. The contract for KPV Redang commenced in February and will last for one year, with an option to extend for an additional year. On the other hand, Sapura Duyong started its contract in March and will be operational for eight months, with a possibility of extending for two more months.
Additionally, Sapura Energy has chartered another 200-pax accommodation workboat, Sapura Aman, for 245 days with a 90-day extension with a Malaysian operator. The company’s accommodation vessel, Sapura 300, has also secured a 30-day charter.
In Thailand, Sapura Wira, a geosurvey vessel, has been contracted for geotechnical soil boring services at the Rossukon field in the Gulf of Thailand. The contract is expected to be completed in the near future, showcasing Sapura Energy’s capabilities beyond its home market.
These recent contract wins add to Sapura Energy’s growing portfolio of projects. Just last week, the company secured a contract for maintenance, construction, and modification services for offshore facilities in Peninsular Malaysia valued at approximately $9m. In February, Sapura Energy announced a series of contracts totaling $723m, further solidifying its position in the industry.
It is worth noting that in March, Sapura Energy received a $250m bailout from the government to repay debts to vendors, demonstrating the government’s confidence in the company’s ability to deliver on its commitments.
