Sapura Energy Secures Multiple Vessel Contracts in Malaysia and Thailand

Malaysia-based offshore services firm Sapura Energy has announced the successful securing of multiple vessel contracts in Malaysia and Thailand, amounting to approximately $22.6 million. These contracts, awarded to Sapura Energy’s Offshore Support Vessel & Geosciences business, are set to keep their accommodation workboats and geosurvey vessels busy throughout the financial year 2026.

The contracts encompass the chartering of two 200-pax-capacity workboats, namely KPV Redang and Sapura Duyong, to support offshore operations in East Malaysia. The contract for KPV Redang commenced in February for a one-year duration, with the possibility of a one-year extension. On the other hand, Sapura Duyong’s contract began in March and spans eight months, with an option for a two-month extension.

Furthermore, Sapura Energy’s 200-pax accommodation workboat, Sapura Aman, has secured a 245-day charter with the potential for a 90-day extension with a Malaysian operator. Additionally, Sapura Offshore, a subsidiary of Sapura Energy, has engaged the 300-pax accommodation workboat, Sapura 300, for a 30-day period to provide accommodation services for offshore crews in Malaysia.

In Thailand, Sapura Energy has been contracted to provide geotechnical soil boring services using Sapura Wira to support drilling activities at the Rossukon field in the Gulf of Thailand. This contract, secured following the successful completion of a previous project in Thailand, is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.

Nasri Mehat, Chief Executive Officer of the Operations and Maintenance division at Sapura Energy, expressed pride in the company’s track record of reliability and safety. He highlighted that in the previous fiscal year, Sapura Energy achieved 99% uptime for all offshore support vessels and maintained an impeccable safety record with zero Recordable Incidents and zero Lost Time Incidents (LTIs).

“Many of our vessels have maintained a zero LTI record for years, such as KPV Redang, which has operated safely for 16 years without any incidents. These accomplishments underscore our unwavering dedication to operational excellence and safety, and we are committed to upholding this standard,” stated Nasri Mehat.
