ScottishPower Renewables Signs Charter Agreements for East Anglia Three Offshore Wind Farm
ScottishPower Renewables, a subsidiary of Spain’s Iberdrola, has recently inked charter agreements with NR Marine Services and OEG to provide essential vessels for the construction of the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm. The combined value of these charter deals exceeds £16m ($21.2m), with all vessels set to operate out of the port of Lowestoft.
NR Marine Services will supply two Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) – the NR Rebellion and the NR Hunter. The NR Rebellion, built by Diverse Marine in the Isle of Wight, stands out as a hybrid vessel known for its eco-friendly design. With a range of 1,000 nautical miles and a capacity for up to 24 personnel, it is considered one of the cleanest CTVs in the industry. The vessel is scheduled to launch in April, followed by the NR Hunter later in the year.
OEG will contribute the support vessel Tess, which will be responsible for undertaking guard operations at the wind farm. Thanks to its advanced design and capabilities, the vessel can remain at sea for extended periods, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted services.
“These charter agreements highlight the capabilities of the East of England in servicing the offshore wind industry, not only locally but on a global scale,” remarked Ross Ovens, Managing Director for Offshore at ScottishPower Renewables.
East Anglia Three is poised to become ScottishPower Renewables’ largest offshore wind farm to date, and the second-largest globally upon its completion in 2026. With a projected capacity of 1.4GW, the wind farm is expected to generate clean energy equivalent to powering over 1.3 million homes.
