Seaonics to Deliver Advanced Equipment for Offshore Newbuilds at VARD’s Yard

Seaonics, a leading provider of advanced electric lift and handling equipment, has recently secured a contract to deliver Electric Controlled Motion Compensated (ECMC) Gangways and ECMC 3D Cranes for an international customer’s walk-to-work offshore newbuilds. These vessels are currently under construction at VARD’s yard in Vietnam.

The ECMC systems provided by Seaonics are designed to ensure smooth and precise movements, even in challenging sea conditions, by compensating for the vessel’s motion. This advanced technology promotes operational safety and efficiency, making cargo handling and personnel transfer easier and more efficient.

The five ECMC Gangways and five ECMC 3D Cranes will enable the vessels to offer comprehensive maintenance, supply, and operational services to offshore oil-and-gas installations. The gangways will ensure safe transfer of cargo and personnel, while the cranes have a motion-compensated lifting capacity of 15T 3D lift and 15T motion-compensated subsea lift, with an outreach of 30 meters.

Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam is responsible for the construction, equipping, sea trials, and delivery of the five ships of VARD 3 32 design, as contracted by Vard Group in November 2024. All five vessels are expected to be delivered by 2027.

Håkon Fauske, Managing Director of Seaonics, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This is a significant milestone for Seaonics and underscores our position as a leading supplier of advanced electric lift and handling equipment. We look forward to collaborating with the shipowner and contributing to smarter, greener, and safer operations in the offshore industry.”
