Shearwater Geoservices to Perform 4D Seismic Survey for Equinor
Offshore seismic services firm Shearwater Geoservices has secured a contract with Equinor to conduct a 4D towed streamer seismic survey over the Tyrihans field in Norway. This project marks the first initiative awarded under the 2021 Equinor frame agreement, which was recently extended for an additional two years.
The one-month survey in the Norwegian Sea is scheduled to commence in early August. Shearwater will utilize the Amazon Conqueror vessel equipped with Isometrix technology for data acquisition.
Having previously completed 4D campaigns for Equinor at the Mariner and Heidrun fields in 2024, Shearwater’s application of advanced technology to capture repeat high-quality seismic data over the Tyrihans area will facilitate a comprehensive understanding of reservoir changes over time in the producing field. This data will play a crucial role in supporting future production strategies aimed at optimizing output.
Shearwater’s CEO, Irene Waage Basili, expressed confidence in the company’s technical capabilities and operational reliability, emphasizing the importance of collaborating with clients to deliver tailored solutions. Basili stated, “In this case, we can provide our client with updated reservoir data to support long-term production optimization and value creation.”
With a focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology and expertise, Shearwater Geoservices continues to solidify its position as a leading provider of offshore seismic services. The upcoming 4D seismic survey for Equinor represents a strategic partnership aimed at maximizing operational efficiency and enhancing reservoir management practices.
