Shearwater Geoservices Wins Major Deepwater 4D OBN Contract with ExxonMobil Guyana

Shearwater Geoservices, a leading offshore seismic services firm, has recently announced that it has secured a large deepwater 4D ocean bottom node (OBN) reservoir surveillance program with ExxonMobil Guyana. This significant contract will see Shearwater conducting a six-month survey starting in the first half of 2025.

The field unit for this project will consist of a Shearwater seismic vessel serving as the source vessel, along with a dual ROV vessel for node deployment. This partnership marks a major milestone for Shearwater as it continues to expand its presence in the offshore oil and gas industry.

Commenting on the contract award, Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Shearwater is pleased to be selected for this significant 4D OBN contract in one of the world’s fastest-growing offshore oil and gas regions following our recent successful completion of 4D towed streamer operations for ExxonMobil in Canada.”

Basili further emphasized Shearwater’s readiness for the increasing demand in deepwater 4D OBN monitoring activities globally. With a cutting-edge seismic fleet, advanced technology offerings, and extensive industry experience, Shearwater is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of the market.

This latest contract with ExxonMobil Guyana underscores Shearwater’s commitment to delivering high-quality seismic services and innovative solutions to its clients. As the offshore oil and gas sector continues to evolve, Shearwater remains at the forefront of driving technological advancements and operational excellence in the industry.

With a track record of successful projects and a dedicated team of experts, Shearwater Geoservices is poised to continue its growth trajectory and solidify its position as a trusted partner for offshore seismic services worldwide.
