Perdana Petroleum Secures Charter Deal with Shell for Accommodation Work Barges

Perdana Petroleum, a leading Malaysian offshore marine support services firm, has recently announced a significant contract win with energy giant Shell. The company’s subsidiary, Sarawak Shell, has awarded Perdana a work order for the charter of two accommodation work barges.

Perdana Nautika, a wholly-owned unit of Perdana Petroleum, will be responsible for chartering the vessels for a period of three years. The exact financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

These accommodation work barges, each capable of accommodating up to 300 personnel, are scheduled to commence their contracts on March 15 and April 7, respectively. The agreement also includes an option to extend the charter for an additional year.

Perdana Nautika will provide the necessary crews and equipment to ensure 24-hour services for assisting or servicing various offshore operations, including drilling rigs, offshore installations, derrick barges, towing, and anchor jobs.

This latest contract win marks Perdana’s first successful charter agreement this year. In the previous year, the company secured eight work orders and four contract extensions for its vessels operating within the oil and gas sector.

Furthermore, Perdana Petroleum reported its highest annual profit in 18 years in its recent financial statements. The improved performance was largely attributed to enhanced vessel utilisation and charter rates.

With a positive outlook for charter rates in the long term due to tight supply conditions, Perdana Petroleum is considering fleet renewal to capitalize on the favorable market dynamics.
