Skyborn Renewables Partners with Siemens Gamesa for Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm

Skyborn Renewables has officially signed the Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA) and the Offshore Long Term Program Service Agreement (LTPSA) with Siemens Gamesa for the supply of 63 SG 14-23 wind turbines and long-term service for the Gennaker offshore wind farm in Germany.

These agreements, which stem from the Master Supply Agreement inked between Skyborn and Siemens Gamesa in June 2024, are subject to certain conditions, including a notice to proceed from Skyborn.

With a capacity of up to 976.5 MW, Gennaker is poised to be the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, situated around 15 kilometers north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. The project area falls within a designated priority zone for offshore wind energy in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania coastal sea.

Skyborn obtained the initial building permit for the Gennaker site in May 2019 and holds exclusive rights for development. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to provide green electricity to approximately 1 million people.

Offshore installation is scheduled to commence in early 2028, with commissioning anticipated later in the same year.

CEO of Skyborn, Patrick Lammers, expressed excitement about the completion of the agreements with Siemens Gamesa, stating, “It is another step towards Gennaker’s commissioning. Siemens Gamesa is a trusted partner for offshore wind turbines, and we are pleased to collaborate with them once again.”

Furthermore, Marc Becker, Senior Vice President of Siemens Gamesa for Offshore, highlighted the successful partnership between the two companies on previous projects and the substantial clean energy capacity that will be achieved through Gennaker.

As Gennaker progresses towards final investment decision, Siemens Gamesa is prepared to deliver the SG 14-236 turbine, which has already garnered substantial orders exceeding 16 GW.
