Taihan Cable & Solution Secures Turnkey Contract for Anma Offshore Wind Farm

Source: Taihan Cable & Solution

Taihan Cable & Solution has been awarded a turnkey contract for the supply and installation of inter-array cables at the 532 MW Anma offshore wind farm in South Korea. The contract, valued at approximately โ‚ฉ181.6 billion (about โ‚ฌ113 million), is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.

As part of the agreement, Taihan will manage the entire turnkey process, encompassing the design, manufacturing, transportation, and installation of inter-array cables. The submarine cables will be manufactured at the newly established Dangjin Submarine Cable Plant 1.

To carry out the cable-laying operations, Taihan intends to utilize PALOS, South Korea’s sole cable-laying vessel (CLV), which recently finished installing export cables at the 364.8 MW Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind farm.

Submarine Cable Plant 1 will serve as the source for both inter-array and export cables for the offshore wind sector. Additionally, Taihan has approved an investment in Submarine Cable Plant 2, which will have the capacity to produce 640 kV HVDC and 400 kV HVAC cables.

The Anma offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 532 MW, is set to be developed on the west coast of the Anma Archipelago in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, spanning an area of 83.9 million square meters. The project is anticipated to generate an annual output of 1,400 GWh, sufficient to power 1.4 million people annually.

This wind farm was one of five projects selected to receive a portion of nearly 1.9 GW of offshore wind capacity by the South Korean government at the end of 2024.

The submarine cables linking Anma to the mainland will be supplied by LS Cable & System, with installation handled by its subsidiary, LS Marine Solution.
