SSY to Launch Dedicated Rig Business
UK shipbroking group SSY has revealed that it would be further expanding its offshore offering with the launch of a dedicated rig business later this year.
Nicholas Wagner-Larsen, an experienced offshore and rig broker, will join SSY in September to head up the new rig division. With 18 years of experience in the offshore market, Wagner-Larsen has been a key player at Arctic Offshore Rig in both Singapore and Oslo for the past decade.
Since venturing into the offshore sector in 2023, SSY has been strengthening its global team of experts and expanding its value proposition to include specialist services in oil, gas, subsea, renewables, and newbuilding.
“To be part of this new chapter in establishing a rig business is a unique opportunity and one that I am incredibly excited about,” said Wagner-Larsen.
Managing partner at SSY, Stanko Jekov, added, “We’ve been monitoring the rig sector for some time now. The market has entered a new phase of activity, making it the right time to launch a dedicated business to offer our customers a comprehensive offshore proposition.”
This move marks SSY’s second expansion, following the announcement in April that the company would be entering the recycling business. The new unit will be led by former Braemar executive, Harry Conrad-Pickles.
SSY’s venture into ship recycling comes at a critical time, as the industry anticipates the scrapping of 15,000 ships over the next decade.
