SubCom Celebrates Historic Deployment of One Million Kilometers of Subsea Cable

SubCom recently achieved a significant organizational milestone by deploying over one million kilometers of subsea cable. The achievement was recognized at a special ceremony held at SubCom’s campus in Newington, where CEO David Coughlan received a commendation from the State of New Hampshire by Governor Kelly A. Ayotte in honor of this industry-first accomplishment.

With a rich history dating back to the mid-1800s, SubCom has been a global leader in subsea cable design, manufacturing, and deployment since entering the communications industry in 1955.

The majority of the world’s data is transmitted through secure, high-speed fiber optic cables that connect continents and drive the global economy. SubCom stands out as the leading company in cable deployment and system components, having enough cable to encircle the Earth more than 25 times.

David Coughlan, CEO of SubCom, expressed gratitude and pride in the company’s achievement, stating, “This milestone underscores the remarkable capabilities of subsea cables, which are essential for the global data network. It also highlights the strength of our country’s manufacturing sector and the dedication of our employees. We celebrate this accomplishment together and take immense pride in our contribution.”
