Swire Shipping Joins Achilles Maritime Network

Singapore-based shipping company Swire Shipping has officially become a member of the Achilles Maritime Network, a digital platform developed by the UK-based supply chain risk management solutions provider, Achilles.

With Swire Shipping’s inclusion, the Achilles Maritime Network now boasts over 2,200 ships in its program, enhancing collaboration within the maritime industry.

The agreement between Swire Shipping and Achilles covers the operations of Swire Shipping’s 27 owned boxships and multipurpose vessels, which are deployed across twelve liner services connecting over 400 ports in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

By joining forces, Swire Shipping aims to improve supply chain due diligence, transparency, and the application of international best practices, aligning with its commitment to operational excellence.

Achilles, established in Norway in 1990, initially focused on assisting the offshore oil and gas industry in meeting health and safety standards more efficiently through a network effect that promotes collaboration between buyers and suppliers on a single platform.

The organization collaborates with financial, industrial, commercial, and governmental entities to streamline processes and enhance compliance.

Several prominent companies in the shipping industry, including Stolt-Nielsen and BW LPG, have joined the Achilles Maritime Network over the years, leveraging the platform’s benefits for operational efficiency and risk management.

Recent additions like Odfjell, a Norwegian maritime transport company, have also embraced the network, citing access to industry-wide, independently verified supply chain data, insights, and benchmarking as key advantages.
