Marine Engineering Specialist Tadek Expands into New UK Offices

Marine engineering specialist Tadek has expanded into new UK offices as its focus on offshore wind and marine renewables sharpens.

Tadek’s new offices are located in One Crown Square, Woking, near London. The move comes as the company strengthens its partnerships with industry players, including Atkins Realis, Allseas, Balmoral Comtec, De Romein Group, DOF, Maersk, Marine Power Systems, N-Sea, Ocean Installer, Oceanwinds, Ricardo, RWE, and Venterra.

The firm specializes in cable systems, risk advisory, and analysis for developers and owners of fixed and floating offshore assets. It also provides installation analysis, project engineering, and management services.

With over 60% of its current projects linked to offshore renewables, Tadek is expanding its expertise in floating offshore wind (FOW), marine renewable energy (MRE), and floating solar projects.

“Tadek has been delivering complex offshore engineering solutions for more than a decade,” said CEO of Tadek, Rupert Raymond.

“During that period, we have gradually built a solid reputation supporting some of the largest industry brands around the world. With this firm track-record across a multitude of fixed and floating marine assets, we are now very actively targeting the burgeoning offshore renewables sector where we have identified significant room for expansion,” Raymond added.

As the UK pushes to reach 50 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, the demand for engineering and risk mitigation services is growing. Raymond emphasized Tadek’s role in supporting floating offshore wind deployment.

“The Floating Offshore Wind sector in particular is evolving rapidly, and Tadek is at the forefront of delivering the technical solutions required to accelerate its deployment. We can play a critical role with knowledge and experience from O&G, fixed & FOW wind, wave & tidal to bring in lessons learnt to optimize project execution and minimize uncertainties in design, installation, and operations.”

Since its founding in 2010, Tadek has focused on marine projects, SURF and marine analysis, structural design, FOW and floating systems design, naval architecture, and now, advisory services.

“We are particularly keen to de-risk investors and owners and make projects work, by advising across the global offshore and renewables market. We’re also keen to engage with technology developers to enable vital success in FOW, MRE, and floating solar prototype deployments,” Raymond noted.

“This kind of work is close to our hearts having, since 2010, supported the installation of more prototype ocean devices than any offshore firm operating in the market today, assisting moorings, cable installation methods and contracting. We take great pride in working collaboratively as a trusted partner with our clients, uniting all stakeholders and project teams.”

In March 2024, Spanish tidal energy developer Magallanes Renovables partnered up with Tadek Ocean Engineering for support related to its first commercial-scale tidal energy array.

The same month, Tadek created a mooring and cable solution for the Renewables for Subsea Power (RSP) project that combines wave energy with subsea storage to power subsea equipment.
