Techano Oceanlift to Deliver Offshore Crane for Newbuild Construction Support Vessel

Techano Oceanlift, a subsidiary of Oslo-listed Nekkar, has been awarded a contract by Sefine Shipyard to supply an offshore crane for a newbuild Construction Support Vessel (CSV) being constructed for a strategic partnership between Agalas, Eidesvik, and Reach Subsea.

The 150-tonnes capacity crane will be capable of performing subsea construction work and topside lifting operations. Techano Oceanlift’s scope of work includes engineering, manufacturing, and commissioning of the crane.

The knuckle boom crane is equipped with an active heave compensated (AHC) winch with a 3,200-meter wire for subsea construction operations and has been prepared for 3D compensation for topside lifts. The crane also features a control system and motion compensating system from its sister company, Intellilift.

Flexibility at the Core of the Newbuild CSV

According to Nils Vidar Stray, the managing director of Techano Oceanlift, the vessel’s owners prioritize flexibility in their newbuild CSV. The crane solution offered by Techano Oceanlift aligns with this requirement, providing a highly flexible option for offshore construction and subsea work.

The newbuild CSV, scheduled for delivery in 2027, will be utilized for subsea and offshore renewables operations. It is specifically designed for construction, inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) work. The vessel will feature a battery hybrid system along with dual-fuel gensets capable of operating on either methanol or marine gas oil (MGO).

With an overall length of 99.9 meters, a breadth of 21 meters, and accommodation for up to 100 personnel, the vessel boasts a highly flexible and advanced structure. It will be two-thirds owned by an entity owned by Eidesvik and Agalas, controlled by Eidesvik, and one-third owned by Reach Subsea.

Upon delivery, the vessel will enter into a five-year time charter with Reach Subsea, with options for two extensions of one year each. Eidesvik will provide management of the vessel, including crewing.
