Tekmar Group Awarded £5 Million Contract for UK Offshore Wind Project

Tekmar Group has secured a significant contract for the delivery of its cable protection system (CPS) and associated ancillaries for a major UK-based offshore wind project. The contract, valued at approximately £5 million (€6 million), highlights Tekmar’s expertise in providing cutting-edge solutions for the renewable energy sector.

Under the terms of the agreement, Tekmar Group will be responsible for designing and supplying its flagship Generation 10 CPS, along with essential ancillaries such as cable hang-off clamps. This partnership marks the first collaboration between Tekmar Group and the client on a project of this scale, further solidifying Tekmar’s position as a key player in the industry.

“We are delighted to be partnering with this client for the first time on a project of this size as part of their Engineering Procurement, Construction and Installation (“EPCI”) scope of supply,” commented Richard Turner, CEO of Tekmar Group. Turner emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering innovative protection solutions and its unparalleled track record in the offshore wind sector.

The project is set to commence immediately, with completion scheduled for 2025. This initiative aligns with the UK’s ambitious target of achieving 50 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, including a significant portion dedicated to floating offshore wind projects.

Recently, the UK government announced the allocation of Contract for Difference (CfD) agreements to offshore wind projects totaling approximately 5.3 GW in generation capacity. This move underscores the country’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and reducing carbon emissions.

Government Initiatives for Sustainable Offshore Wind Development

In line with its sustainability goals, the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) unveiled new measures aimed at minimizing underwater noise levels during the construction of offshore wind projects. These initiatives, part of the government’s Plan for Change, are designed to mitigate environmental impact and streamline the development of offshore wind infrastructure, particularly in sensitive marine habitats.

With Tekmar Group at the forefront of providing advanced CPS solutions for offshore wind projects, the company’s involvement in the UK-based initiative underscores its commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in the renewable energy sector. As the industry continues to expand, Tekmar Group remains a key player in safeguarding offshore assets and supporting the transition to a cleaner energy future.
