Teledyne Marine to Participate in SeaSEC Challenge 2025

Teledyne Marine, in collaboration with Teledyne Geospatial, is gearing up to take part in the SeaSEC Challenge 2025 (SCW25). This maritime security event serves as a platform for industry leaders to test and validate technologies in realistic underwater threat scenarios. Teledyne Marine’s involvement in the event underscores its commitment to innovation and safeguarding critical underwater infrastructure.
The SeaSEC Challenge 2025 comprises three core challenges, each presenting unique underwater scenarios for participants to tackle. Teledyne Marine will be actively engaged in all three challenges with their innovative solutions.
SeaSEC Challenge #1: Sea What’s There
In this challenge, participants must detect and track potentially uncooperative underwater vehicles in real time.
- Teledyne Marine will utilize its Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) system to detect sound from the suspected Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) within a designated search area. The team will then employ the SeaBat 7123 forward-looking sonar to visually locate and track the AUV, with real-time data transmission to Teledyne Marine’s communication center.
SeaSEC Challenge #2: No Pipe to Lose
This challenge focuses on locating and classifying threats near pipelines, whether buried or unburied.
- Teledyne Marine will deploy its Gavia AUV equipped with the SeaBat T20 multibeam sonar to identify objects of interest near pipelines. Additionally, the SeaBat T51 will be used on both survey vessels and Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) for the same task.
- Harbor-based testing will involve a trencher equipped with Teledyne Marine’s HydroPACT pipe tracker and two Blueview sonars for detecting buried threats.
SeaSEC Challenge #3: Fishy Finds
Participants in this challenge are tasked with detecting anomalies on the seabed that could indicate sabotage or intrusion.
- Teledyne Marine will deploy the SeaBat T51 on survey vessels and USVs, along with the Gavia AUV equipped with the SeaBat T20. Teledyne Geospatial’s lidar platform will provide additional support for comprehensive coverage and precise mapping.
- Furthermore, a FLIR infrared camera positioned in the harbor will offer continuous visual monitoring of offshore challenge zones.
The SeaSEC Challenge 2025 is set to take place from May 12-23, 2025, off the coast of Scheveningen, Netherlands. Founded in December 2023, SeaSEC aims to foster collaboration among infrastructure owners, public stakeholders, industry, and research on an international level.
Teledyne Marine’s participation in SeaSEC is a collaborative effort, with partners such as Copenhagen Global providing a USV platform and IHC supplying a trencher equipped with Teledyne Marine’s technology for subsea pipeline detection.
