Norwegian Seismic Firm TGS Secures Offshore Wind Site Characterization Contract in Norway

Norwegian seismic firm TGS has recently announced that it has secured a significant contract for offshore wind site characterization services offshore Norway. The contract includes acquisition, imaging, and interpretation services to support the development of offshore wind projects in the region.

The company’s state-of-the-art Ramform Vanguard vessel is set to commence data acquisition in early July, with an estimated duration of approximately 25 days. Concurrently, the imaging and interpretation work will begin, with the final data delivery to the undisclosed client expected in the first quarter of 2026.

Equipped with TGS’s proprietary Ultra-High-Resolution 3D (UHR3D) streamers and integrated geophysical sensors, the Ramform Vanguard is specifically tailored to capture high-resolution data of the shallow subsurface targets crucial for offshore wind farm development.

CEO of TGS, Kristian Johansen, expressed his satisfaction with securing another offshore wind site characterization contract in Northern Europe, extending the company’s acquisition campaign in the region. He emphasized the growing client interest in TGS’s cutting-edge geophysical approach, which provides valuable data for informed decision-making in offshore wind project development.

“We are very pleased to secure another offshore wind site characterization contract in Northern Europe, extending our acquisition campaign in the region by nearly a month. We are seeing strong client adoption for our high-quality geophysical approach to mapping shallower subsurface targets, which supports data-driven decision making for offshore wind farm development and offers a compelling alternative to traditional geophysical wind solutions,” said Johansen.

With its advanced technology and expertise in offshore seismic services, TGS continues to play a significant role in supporting the growth of the offshore wind industry in Norway and beyond. The company’s commitment to delivering high-quality data and innovative solutions positions it as a key player in driving the success of offshore wind projects in the region.
