Expanding Horizons: Tidal Transit Partners with Britoil Offshore Services and Sky Offshore for South Korean Offshore Wind Industry

UK-based supplier of purpose-design crew transfer vessels (CTVs) Tidal Transit has signed a memorandum of understanding with Britoil Offshore Services and Sky Offshore to develop, fund, build, and operate offshore support vessels for the South Korean offshore wind industry.

South Korea has made significant progress in the development of its offshore sector and has set a nationwide goal of reaching 14.3GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

The new venture between the trio will enable them to respond to upcoming tenders more quickly and effectively as the sector continues to grow.

“Leveraging our extensive expertise in the offshore energy market and our investments in an expanding fleet of outfitted offshore support vessels, we are committed to delivering exceptional solutions to support the growth of South Korea’s offshore wind sector,” said Ernest Loh, head of SBU for Asia Pacific at Britoil Offshore Services.

“Through our collaboration with leading international players Britoil and Sky Offshore, we’re now poised to expand our horizons and establish ourselves as frontrunners in the evolving South Korean offshore wind industry,” added Leo Hambro, director at Tidal Transit.

In September last year, Tidal Transit ordered two newbuild CTVs at Singapore’s Penguin Shipyard to meet the growing market demand for vessels in the offshore wind industry. The company booked Incat Crowther-designed WindFlex-27 CTV vessels, each with a capacity for 24 passengers.
