Tidewater Names Chris Mack as Vice President of Marine Operations

Tidewater, a leading provider of offshore service vessels, has announced the appointment of Chris Mack as the company’s new Vice President of Marine Operations. Mack brings with him over two decades of industry experience, making him a valuable addition to the Tidewater team.

Chris Mack’s journey in the maritime industry began with his Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Transportation from the California Maritime Academy. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Marine Transportation and Engineering Management from California State University Maritime Academy in 2023. Starting as an Able Seaman, Mack steadily progressed in his career to eventually become a Captain within the Ocean Towing Fleet. During his more than 20 years at Foss Maritime, he held various roles, culminating in his position as Chief Operating Officer, where he was responsible for overseeing comprehensive marine operations.

Aside from his extensive maritime experience, Mack also brings a wealth of project management expertise to Tidewater. He holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, showcasing his proficiency in structured project execution and strategic planning.

Johan Sperling, President and CEO of Tidewater, expressed his confidence in Mack’s abilities, stating, “Chris brings a unique combination of practical maritime experience and strategic leadership to Tidewater. His profound knowledge of marine operations, coupled with his unwavering commitment to safety and efficiency, will be instrumental as we navigate future growth opportunities and strive to deliver exceptional service to our customers.”

In his new role, Mack will not only lead Tidewater’s marine operations but will also be instrumental in shaping the company’s labor relations strategy. He will oversee the alignment and execution of the company’s four collective bargaining agreements and drive the advancement of Tidewater’s project management philosophy, focusing on structured execution and continuous improvement in key operational initiatives.
