Tidewater Welcomes Chris Mack as New Vice President of Marine Operations

Tidewater is thrilled to introduce Chris Mack as the newest addition to our team, serving as the Vice President of Marine Operations. With a wealth of experience in maritime transportation and operations spanning over two decades, Chris brings a unique perspective and extensive knowledge to Tidewater.

Chris’s journey in the maritime industry began with a Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Transportation from the California Maritime Academy, followed by a Master of Marine Transportation and Engineering Management from California State University Maritime Academy in 2023. Starting as an Able Seaman, Chris steadily progressed to the position of Captain within the Ocean Towing Fleet. During his tenure of more than 20 years at Foss Maritime, Chris held various key roles, ultimately reaching the pinnacle as Chief Operating Officer, where he led comprehensive marine operations.

Furthermore, Chris is well-versed in managing large-scale projects and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, showcasing his proficiency in structured project execution and strategic planning.

Expressing his excitement about Chris’s appointment, Johan Sperling, Tidewater’s President and CEO, stated, “Chris’s combination of practical maritime experience and strategic acumen brings immense value to Tidewater. His profound knowledge of marine operations, coupled with his dedication to safety and efficiency, will be instrumental as we navigate future growth opportunities and uphold our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients.”

Aside from overseeing Tidewater’s marine operations, Chris will also play a vital role in shaping the company’s labor relations strategy, ensuring alignment and execution of the company’s four Collective Bargaining Agreements. Additionally, he will lead the enhancement of Tidewater’s project management approach, driving structured execution and continuous enhancement across key operational initiatives.
