Shearwater Geoservices Wins Seismic Acquisition Contract with TotalEnergies in Sao Tome & Principe
Shearwater Geoservices has announced the successful acquisition of a 3D marine seismic contract by TotalEnergies in Sao Tome & Principe on the STP-02 Block. The exploration survey, set to span two months, will take place off the coast of Western Africa and is scheduled to commence in the early third quarter of 2025. The SW Empress, renowned as one of the world’s most advanced 3D seismic vessels, will be utilized for this project.
TotalEnergies, having secured the offshore exploration block STP02 in 2024, operates the block in partnership with ANP-STP and Sonangol. This collaboration signifies the beginning of an extended partnership between Shearwater Geoservices and TotalEnergies. It follows the recent announcement of a seismic capacity agreement between the two companies, which serves as a pivotal strategic platform. This agreement not only provides Shearwater with long-term visibility on future demand but also supports TotalEnergies’ global exploration strategy through the utilization of cutting-edge geophysical technology and assets.
Commenting on the contract award, Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater Geoservices, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with TotalEnergies, stating, “This award marks the initiation of our extended collaboration with TotalEnergies, as it will be the first project after the recently announced seismic capacity agreement, which is an important strategic platform for both companies, providing Shearwater with long-term visibility on future demand, while also supporting TotalEnergies’ global exploration strategy with industry leading geophysical technology and assets.”
