Trillion Energy Prepares to Boost Gas Production Offshore Türkiye
Canada’s oil and gas player Trillion Energy is gearing up to increase gas production at its field offshore Türkiye using nitrogen following the completion of velocity string (VS) operations.
The Canadian firm has successfully concluded VS operations on the Alapli-2 and Bayhanli-2 gas wells at the SASB field. This brings the total to six wells completed as part of its VS program, which commenced in late October at the Akçakoca-3 gas well.
After the installation of 2,996 meters of 2 3/8-inch velocity string tubing to Alapli-2, the snubbing unit used for the job was set to be transferred to Bayhanli-2, where 2,888 meters of 2 3/8-inch velocity string tubing were to be installed. The unit was mobilized, and the crane barge anchored at the East Ayazli tripod on January 7.
The following day, the crew was rigging the snubbing unit onto the Bayhanli-2 well.
The second well was completed on January 10, eight days after Trillion Energy disclosed the commencement of work on two tripods. With the well pair completed, nitrogen stimulation to enhance gas production and kickstart the wells is next on the agenda.
On January 13, the firm announced that the nitrogen stimulation for Bayhanli-2 and Alapli-2 was postponed due to severe weather conditions. Operations were rescheduled to resume on January 16.
“Nitrogen is a highly effective tool for lifting liquids, reducing wellbore pressure, and enhancing gas flow, ensuring each well achieves its maximum production potential,” noted Trillion Energy.
In addition to operations to boost output from its Black Sea field, the company recently underwent a change in management with Sean Stofer being named Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as Arthur Halleran decided to step down.
