TechnipFMC Completes iEPCI Scope at Shell’s Dover Deepwater Project

TechnipFMC has successfully wrapped up its integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (iEPCI) scope at Shell’s Dover deepwater project in the Gulf of America. This milestone comes two years after securing the contract for the project.

Back in May 2023, TechnipFMC was tasked with providing subsea tree systems and handling the EPCI of umbilical, riser, and flowline systems for the Dover development. The company utilized its pipelaying vessel, Deep Blue, for the project.

According to TechnipFMC, the project at Dover signifies a significant achievement in their longstanding partnership with Shell. The collaborative effort, strong support, and adherence to high safety standards were instrumental in overcoming challenges and delivering success, including the implementation of the XT350 high temp coating solution for the production flowline.

Shell Offshore initiated production at Dover in early April, connecting new wells to the existing infrastructure at the Appomattox production hub. The project is expected to yield a peak production of 20,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The Dover discovery was made by Shell in 2018 within Mississippi Canyon, situated approximately 170 miles offshore southeast of New Orleans. The project, located in 7,500 feet of water, received its final investment decision in March 2023.

While Shell holds a 100% working interest in the Dover project, it operates the Appomattox field with a 79% stake, with INEOS Energy Petroleum Offshore USA holding the remaining 21% interest.

In addition to the Dover project, Shell recently awarded TechnipFMC a contract exceeding $1 billion for the Gato do Mato greenfield development offshore Brazil.
