UK’s Forum Energy Technology to Deliver ROV for Offshore Wind Surveys in the U.S.

UK’s Forum Energy Technology (FET) is set to deliver a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to a North American subsea organization which will be used for offshore wind, as well as river bed surveys in the U.S.

FET’s Subsea Product Line signed a contract for the sale of an electric Sub Atlantic Super Mohawk II ROV and Dynacon launch and recovery system (LARS) to the North American subsea organization.

The ROV, which will be used for shallow water operations in the Northeastern U.S., marks the company’s first sale for river bed assessments alongside offshore wind farm surveying.

According to FET, the Observation-class ROV can operate in harsh environments, provides high quality video for inspection work and has capabilities for running underslung tool packages such as tree valve torque tools, high pressure water jetting pumps and small hydraulic or electric manipulators.

The Dynacon LARS system is designed to deploy, recover and store up to 3,300 meters of 25.4 mm diameter umbilical. Principal components include an A-Frame, ROV winch with standard levelwind, local control station and electro-hydraulic power unit on a single skid platform.

In January, FET announced it had secured a contract to supply a work-class ROV system and the Dynacon LARS to Spanish maritime survey and ROV services operator ACSM.

A month later, the UK company introduced its ultra-heavy-duty work-class ROV designed to enhance subsea operations with increased payload capacity and advanced control capabilities.
