Oil India Limited Partners with UK’s 3t Drilling Systems for Advanced Simulator Technology

Oil India Limited, a state-owned oil company, has recently entered into a partnership with 3t Drilling Systems from the UK to enhance the drilling training for its employees. The agreement includes the delivery of advanced simulator technology models, namely DrillSIM:5000 Classic and Cyber, to Oil India’s operations in Assam.

The contract, facilitated through 3t’s in-country partner, Siam Services India, is set to be implemented in Q3 2025 with a five-year partnership agreement in place between 3t and Oil India. This collaboration aims to equip Oil India Limited with cutting-edge training tools to verify skills and competency in various drilling scenarios.

Clive Battisby, Senior Vice President of 3t’s technology businesses, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, “We are committed to supporting Oil India Limited through the evolving landscape of the oil and gas industry, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of innovation and safety.”

3t believes that its simulator technology will revolutionize the training capabilities of Oil India’s workforce, particularly in areas such as oiled tubing, wireline, and snubbing operations. The immersive learning technologies are expected to enhance safety and efficiency in drilling operations, contributing to a more secure work environment.

Enhancing Training Capabilities

3t’s DrillSIM:5000 Classic offers hands-on experience in a realistic rig floor setting, simulating various well control situations and equipment malfunctions. The detailed 3D graphics create an immersive learning environment that prioritizes safety and skill development.

Furthermore, the Cyber model provides a versatile drilling and well control simulation, featuring cyber controls and joystick functionality for a modern rig setting. This advanced technology aims to prepare Oil India’s employees for real-world drilling challenges.

Kevin Franklin, CEO of 3t, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing safety-critical training solutions globally. He stated, “Our simulation technologies have been trusted by customers worldwide for over 37 years, and we are dedicated to upskilling Oil India Limited and supporting their growth in the industry.”

Notably, 3t’s simulation program was previously selected by Malaysia’s Petronas, showcasing the company’s expertise in delivering high-quality training solutions. The partnership with Oil India Limited marks another milestone in 3t’s expansion in the Asian market.

With a focus on innovation and safety, the collaboration between Oil India Limited and 3t Drilling Systems is poised to elevate drilling training standards and ensure the readiness of employees for complex drilling operations.
