Indian Navy Rescues 18 Crew Members, Search Continues for 4 Missing

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) received notification from Indian authorities regarding the successful transfer of 18 crew members from lifeboats to an Indian Navy ship en route to New Mangalore Port. However, four crew members, including two from Taiwan, one from Myanmar, and one from Indonesia, remain missing as search and rescue (SAR) operations continue.

Out of the 18 rescued crew members, five have sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment onboard the Indian Navy ship while heading towards port. As of 20:30 pm on June 9, 2025 (Singapore Time), three vessels have been deployed by the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy to support SAR operations, with additional aircraft also assisting in the search efforts.

MPA extends its gratitude to the Indian authorities for their prompt response in rescuing the 18 crew members and for their ongoing support in the SAR operations. A team from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore is en route to provide assistance to the Indian authorities.

Our thoughts are with the crew members and their families during this challenging time. Updates on the situation will be shared as soon as further information becomes available.
