Morco Products has issued a recall for certain open-flued gas water heaters following the identification of a safety issue.

The affected appliances, which may be installed in canal boats, houseboats, mobile homes, caravans, as well as domestic and commercial properties, pose risks of fire, explosion, and injury. The issue involves the potential for gas leaks that, if ignited, could result in burns or explosions.

The water heaters not to use are Primo 6 (MP6), Primo 11 (MP11), EUP6, and EUP11. The products have been found not to comply with the requirements of Regulation 2016/426.

The EUP11RS is not affected by this notice not to use.

UK-based firm Morco advises owners of these gas water heaters, including those that have previously undergone a safety upgrade, to contact the company immediately for guidance on the next steps. Owners are cautioned against attempting to check or test the appliance themselves.

Additional information, including a form to request a refund or replacement, is available via the company’s website. Morco Products can also be reached directly by phone at (+44) 01482 325456 or via email.

For anyone who smells gas or is concerned about the safety of their appliance, the National Gas emergency helpline should be contacted immediately. The numbers are 0800 111 999 for England, Wales, and Scotland, and 0800 002 001 for Northern Ireland.

A product recall document, which includes an image of the affected item and further recall details, can be accessed online.
