Portland Yacht Services (PYS) — a full-service boatyard located in Portland, Maine — has acquired the Portland Boat Show.
In a statement, PYS says the move ensures the event’s continuity while positioning it for future expansion.
The Portland Boat Show, previously run by PRM Promotions, has long served boaters, marine professionals, and enthusiasts in the New England region by showcasing vessels and marine equipment alongside related services. PYS says the show will maintain its current format under its ownership, while the yard explores opportunities for growth. The company also aims to attract new exhibitors and broaden the range of products and services on display, in line with industry trends.
“We are thrilled to bring the Portland Boat Show into the Portland Yacht Services family,” says Jason Curtis, vice president of operations at Portland Yacht Services. “This acquisition aligns with our mission to support and enhance the boating community in New England. Our team is eager to build upon the show’s rich tradition and introduce new elements that reflect the evolving needs of boaters.”
PYS has over 30 years of experience running the Maine Boatbuilders Show, which held its last edition in 2022. The yard says this expertise will inform the transition and management of the Portland Boat Show. PYS is committed to maintaining the event’s reputation as a must-attend gathering for the regional boating industry, ensuring it remains a key platform for networking and knowledge sharing.
PYS says its plans for the Portland Boat Show include expanding exhibitor offerings, enhancing educational programs, and introducing interactive features that address marine technology, sustainability, and boating safety. Additional efforts will focus on creating a more immersive experience for attendees, with hands-on demonstrations and expert-led discussions on emerging marine innovations.
The next Portland Boat Show is scheduled for 25 February to 1 March 2026 at The Portland Sports Complex, 512 Warren Ave, Portland, Maine.
