U.S. Secretary of Energy Stresses American Energy Expansion at CERAWeek 2025
U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright delivered a powerful keynote address at CERAWeek 2025, outlining the administration’s dedication to boosting American energy production while prioritizing affordability, reliability, and security.
Wright criticized past energy policies for being overly focused on climate issues, asserting that they resulted in increased costs and economic uncertainty. He reiterated the administration’s backing of natural gas, nuclear power, and the enhancement of energy infrastructure, highlighting the reversal of restrictions on LNG exports and initiatives to rejuvenate American manufacturing.
“Our goal is clear: more American energy production and infrastructure, not less,” Wright declared, revealing approvals for new LNG export terminals, such as the Delphi Offshore Louisiana project.
The Secretary highlighted the necessity for escalated energy production to meet the rising global demand, especially with the surge in electricity consumption due to AI and advanced technologies. He cautioned against policies that escalate energy costs, underscoring their impact on American households and businesses.
Wright advocated for a “common-sense pivot” in energy policy, promoting nuclear advancements, regulatory rollbacks, and consumer choice in energy-efficient appliances and vehicles. He concluded by underscoring the pivotal role of energy in propelling economic expansion and technological innovation, positioning the U.S. as a frontrunner in energy security and advancement.
