The Trump Administration Unveils Schedule for Offshore Oil and Gas Lease Sales

The Trump administration has revealed a comprehensive schedule for more than 30 offshore oil and gas lease sales over the next 15 years. This ambitious plan is part of the administration’s push for energy dominance in the United States.

The schedule includes a total of 30 lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico, with the first sale set to take place on December 10, 2025. From the following year onwards, there will be two Gulf sales annually until 2039, with only one sale scheduled for 2040.

As part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, these lease sales aim to strengthen American energy dominance, create job opportunities, and ensure responsible development of offshore resources. The Trump administration is committed to maximizing the country’s energy potential through these strategic initiatives.

In addition to the Gulf of Mexico sales, the schedule also includes six lease sales in Alaska’s Cook Inlet through 2032. The first sale in this region is planned for March of next year, further expanding the scope of offshore energy activities in the country.

Doug Burgum, the US Interior Secretary, emphasized the importance of President Trump’s leadership in driving these initiatives. He stated, “Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re putting in place a bold, long-term program that strengthens American energy dominance, creates good-paying jobs, and ensures we continue to responsibly develop our offshore resources.”

Erik Milito, President of the National Ocean Industries Association, praised the schedule for providing much-needed stability to America’s offshore energy sector. He highlighted the significance of a clear, long-term plan for lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska’s Cook Inlet, which will support investments, job creation, and energy security.

“With this schedule in place, the Gulf of Mexico will continue to anchor our economy, bolster national security, and support communities across all 50 states,” Milito added, underscoring the positive impact of these lease sales on the nation’s energy landscape.
