SPIE Wind Connect Secures Second Contract with Van Oord for Windanker Offshore Wind Farm

SPIE Global Services Energy, a subsidiary of SPIE, has announced that its wind power high voltage specialized entity, SPIE Wind Connect, has secured a second contract with marine contractor Van Oord. The project involves the termination and testing of 21, 66kV inter-array cables (IAC) on the 315 MW Windanker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.

The project is set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025 and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2026. This will involve the termination and testing of the final IACs connecting the wind turbine generators with the offshore substation. Once fully operational in 2026, Windanker will have an installed capacity of 315 MW, providing renewable energy to 315,000 households.

Sam Dowey, Managing Director at SPIE Wind Connect, expressed his excitement about the contract, stating, “The award of this contract further develops our long-term relationship with Van Oord, one of the world’s most experienced offshore contractors and a key business partner for our organization.”

This development highlights SPIE Wind Connect’s expertise in the wind power sector and solidifies its position as a trusted partner for offshore wind projects. With a strong focus on sustainability and renewable energy, SPIE Wind Connect is committed to delivering high-quality services to support the growth of the offshore wind industry.
