Christen Sveaas’ Viking Supply Ships Expands Fleet with New Acquisition

Christen Sveaas’ Viking Supply Ships has recently added to its anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) fleet with the purchase of a new vessel. The Stenungsund-based company announced the acquisition of the 2012-built Ice Class 1A AHTS vessel Atlantic Kestrel from Canadian firm Atlantic Towing.

The 85-meter vessel, originally known as Jaya Supreme, was the largest vessel constructed by the Jaya shipyard at the time of its completion in 2012. Initially flying the Singapore flag, the vessel has been reflagged to facilitate its operations offshore Canada.

Equipped with main engines delivering over 16,000 bhp, the vessel boasts a continuous bollard pull of 211 tonnes. It is scheduled to be handed over to the Swedish company in September 2025 and will be rechristened Ben Viking.

Following this acquisition, Viking Supply Ships will have a fleet comprising seven anchor handlers. The company divested from the PSV segment in January of the previous year.
