Voyis Launches Deep Vision Optics to Enhance Underwater Imaging

Voyis, a leader in underwater optical sensor technology, has unveiled its latest innovation – the Deep Vision Optics. This optical system is specifically designed to enhance image clarity and sharpness in subsea environments, setting a new standard for underwater imaging technology. The Deep Vision Optics is compatible with Voyis’ Discovery Vision Systems and Observer Imaging Systems, offering a cutting-edge solution for improved underwater visibility.

The Challenge of Underwater Imaging

Underwater cameras face unique challenges in maintaining focus and image quality due to the properties of water. Traditional dome viewports can distort image formation and focus, resulting in poor corner focus and reduced depth of field. This limitation impacts the usability of the camera’s field of view, leading to image blur, reduced accuracy in feature tracking, and inconsistencies in mapping applications.

Introducing Deep Vision Optics

To address these challenges, Voyis has developed the Deep Vision Optics with three key objectives:

  • Eliminating Image Blur in the Corners
  • Enhancing Overall Image Sharpness
  • Expanding the Depth of Field

The Deep Vision Optics system delivers exceptional image quality, maximizing field-of-view utilization for enhanced situational awareness with ROVs and improved visual surveys with AUVs. By optimizing image sharpness, the system enhances feature and target detection, supporting machine learning applications with reliable automated analysis. Enhanced corner sharpness improves stability in photogrammetry processes, while increased depth of field ensures accurate photogrammetry, reducing manual intervention and accelerating data processing for faster, more reliable survey results.

Advancing Underwater Imaging Technology

Deep Vision Optics represents a significant advancement in underwater imaging technology, providing operators with the tools needed to conduct precise, efficient, and automated subsea inspections. Voyis remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of underwater vision technology, ensuring that every detail beneath the surface is captured with unparalleled clarity.

With the launch of Deep Vision Optics, Voyis continues to lead the way in innovative solutions for underwater imaging, setting a new standard for clarity and precision in subsea environments.
