Wärtsilä to Supply Regasification Module for Egypt-Bound FSRU Conversion

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions to Supply Regasification Module for Höegh Evi

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, a division of the technology group Wärtsilä, has secured a contract to provide a regasification module for the vessel Höegh Evi. This module will be installed on the LNG carrier Hoegh Gandria, transforming it into a high-capacity floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).

Once the conversion is complete, the Hoegh Gandria will be stationed in the port of Sumed, Egypt. The vessel will be responsible for supplying the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company with a peak LNG regasification capacity of up to 1,000 mmscf/day. This critical infrastructure project will contribute to Egypt’s energy diversification and flexibility.

The regasification module from Wärtsilä is set to be delivered in the second quarter of 2026. The conversion of the Hoegh Gandria is expected to be finalized by the fourth quarter of the same year.


Partnership with Höegh Evi

Øivin Iversen, Chief of Projects at Höegh Evi, expressed confidence in Wärtsilä’s regasification solutions, citing their quality and reliability. The converted vessel will serve as a floating import terminal, playing a crucial role in supporting Egypt’s energy system. Partnering with Wärtsilä was a strategic decision to ensure the success of this essential project.

Kjell Ove Ulstein, Director of Sales & Marketing at Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, highlighted the long-standing partnership between the two companies. With Wärtsilä supplying regasification modules to Höegh Evi for over two decades, the collaboration underscores a shared commitment to innovation and excellence in the energy sector. This partnership aligns with Wärtsilä’s strategic vision of advancing solutions for decarbonization.
