Zamil Offshore’s New 60-Meter Fast Support Intervention Vessel Exceeds Expectations

Zamil Offshore, a leading offshore marine services provider, is set to introduce its latest addition to the fleet, the Zamil 80. This 60-meter Fast Support Intervention Vessel (FSIV) has recently completed sea trials with flying colors, surpassing all expectations set for it.

Designed by the renowned naval architecture firm Incat Crowther, the Zamil 80 achieved a remarkable service speed of 28 knots while carrying a 200-tonne payload, well above the contracted required service speed of 25 knots. This exceptional performance highlights the vessel’s capabilities and reliability in offshore operations.

Advanced Features and Functionality

The Zamil 80 is the first of three ABS-Classed FSIVs being constructed by Singaporean shipbuilder Lita Ocean for Zamil Offshore. These vessels are specifically tailored to support Saudi Aramco’s operations in the Arabian Sea, providing safe and efficient transport of cargo, maintenance equipment, and personnel.

Powered by four MTU 16V4000 diesel engines and equipped with Hamilton waterjets, the Zamil 80 boasts impressive maneuverability and dynamic positioning capabilities, thanks to its DP2 certification. The vessel also features Hydromaster tunnel bow thrusters for enhanced docking and station-keeping.

Additionally, the Zamil 80 is equipped with FFS firefighting pumps, offering FiFi-1 capability, as well as Scania diesel generators for ship service power. The vessel’s main deck includes a spacious cargo area and a climate-controlled cabin with amenities for up to 60 service personnel.

Crew Comfort and Safety

The Zamil 80 prioritizes the well-being of its 18 crew members, providing comfortable accommodations on the hull deck with modern facilities, including a pantry, mess, bathrooms, and laundry. An isolation room is also available for medical emergencies, ensuring the crew’s health and safety at all times.

Compliant with the latest requirements from Saudi Aramco, including ABS SMART and IDM-A notations, the Zamil 80 represents a new standard in high-speed offshore support vessels. Incat Crowther’s Managing Director, Grant Pecoraro, expressed satisfaction with the vessel’s performance and looks forward to the completion of the remaining two vessels in the fleet.

With its exceptional speed, efficiency, and advanced features, the Zamil 80 is poised to make a significant impact in the offshore marine industry, setting a new benchmark for fast support intervention vessels.
