Wärtsilä Signs Five-Year Agreement with NMDC Group to Enhance Dredging Fleet Efficiency

Technology group Wärtsilä has recently inked a significant five-year lifecycle agreement with NMDC Group, a prominent dredging and marine contractor operating in the Middle East region. This strategic partnership aims to optimize the availability and operational efficiency of NMDC’s dredging fleet, ensuring smooth and sustainable operations.

The agreement encompasses seven of NMDC’s dredgers initially, with the potential to extend the scope to include additional vessels in the future. It involves the implementation of a tailored maintenance program for the engine and propulsion equipment onboard the vessels, alongside the integration of digital solutions and performance guarantees. These measures are designed to enhance fleet availability, minimize downtime, and streamline maintenance costs for NMDC.

Peter Marvin, Chief Technical & Resource Pool Officer at NMDC Group, emphasized the importance of maximizing vessel availability and reducing downtime for the company. He stated, “Increasing availability and reducing downtime of our vessels is a priority for our company. That’s why this new agreement with Wärtsilä serves as a cornerstone in our efforts to advance reliable and sustainable operations within the Middle East.”

Henrik Wilhelms, Director of Agreement Sales at Wärtsilä, highlighted the critical nature of NMDC’s operations in challenging environments, where vessel uptime and flexibility are paramount. He affirmed, “NMDC’s fleet operates in highly demanding environments, where uptime and vessel flexibility are critical. Our tailored digital solutions and expert operational support will ensure that their vessels are not only more reliable but also operate at peak efficiency throughout the contract duration, in turn, saving fuel and lowering emissions.”
