Anglo-Eastern Launches New LNG/Ammonia Bunkering Station Skid for Hands-On Training

Ship management services provider Anglo-Eastern has taken a significant step in promoting safety and efficiency in fueling LNG- and ammonia-powered vessels. The company has recently established a state-of-the-art LNG/ammonia bunkering station skid at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) in Mumbai, India. This initiative aims to provide hands-on training to industry professionals working with these innovative fuel types.

The inauguration of the new bunkering station skid took place on February 20, 2025, marking a milestone in the maritime industry’s transition towards sustainable fuels. Equipped with cutting-edge cryogenic fuelling technology and safety systems, the skid offers a controlled environment for training in LNG and ammonia transfer operations, emergency response procedures, regulatory compliance, and real-world bunkering operations simulation.

Aalok Sharma, Group Director of Training at Anglo-Eastern, expressed his enthusiasm about the new facility, stating: “We are thrilled to introduce this LNG/Ammonia bunkering station skid as part of our commitment to shaping the future of maritime fuel safety and efficiency. The industry’s shift towards sustainable fuels necessitates well-trained professionals, and this facility will equip maritime personnel with the necessary knowledge and hands-on experience for LNG and ammonia bunkering.”

In addition to the bunkering station skid, Anglo-Eastern has also unveiled the Anglo-Eastern MAN PrimeServ training facility at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre (AEMTC Mumbai), designed for Mk 2 ME-GI engines. This new facility demonstrates crucial aspects of engine operations and maintenance procedures for safe operation of ME-GI engines onboard vessels.

The collaboration with MAN Energy Solutions through the MAN PrimeServ Academy further strengthens Anglo-Eastern’s commitment to enhancing industry expertise. The partnership, which began with MAN B&W Engine courses in Mumbai in 2003, continues to evolve with the introduction of advanced training facilities for modern engine technologies.

Furthermore, Anglo-Eastern reached a significant milestone last summer by bunkering 100,000 cubic meters (cbm) of LNG across its fleet of LNG dual-fuel vessels, showcasing the company’s dedication to sustainable fuel adoption and operational excellence.
