Hellenic Cables and Asso.subsea to Supply Export Cables for Dunkerque Offshore Wind Farm
Hellenic Cables and Asso.subsea have been awarded a turnkey contract by Réseau de Transport d’ Électricité (RTE) to provide and install export cables for the Dunkerque offshore wind farm. This project marks a significant step towards enhancing renewable energy infrastructure in France.
Project Details
The Dunkerque offshore wind farm is set to have a capacity ranging between 500 and 600 MW. It will consist of two 225kV HVAC export cable links that will facilitate the smooth transmission of clean energy to the French grid.
Hellenic Cables will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, and supply of 32km of submarine cables for the double submarine cable link, along with 38km of underground cables for the tri-phased double underground cable link. Additionally, the company will supply submarine and underground cable accessories, conduct on-site jointing, testing, termination works, and oversee the commissioning of the cable links.
Asso.subsea, the installation partner, will handle the transportation, laying, and protection of the submarine cable links. The cables, both onshore and subsea, will be produced at Hellenic Cables’ facilities in Greece.
Installation Process
Asso.subsea will utilize its expanded fleet capacity and specialized in-house-designed equipment to ensure precise, efficient, and high-quality installation of the subsea cables. The project involves intricate laying and burial operations in shallow waters, an area where Asso.subsea has demonstrated expertise over the years.

Development and Consortium
The wind farm is being developed by the Eoliennes en Mer de Dunkerque (EMD) consortium, comprising EDF Renouvelables and Enbridge. With the combined expertise of Hellenic Cables and Asso.subsea, the Dunkerque offshore wind farm is poised to become a significant contributor to France’s renewable energy goals.
