Seaway 7 to Charter Turbine Vessel for Dogger Bank Wind Farm

Seaway 7, the renewables unit of Oslo-listed Subsea 7, has recently secured a contract to charter a turbine vessel for work on the Dogger Bank wind farm off the UK. This development follows Seaway 7’s vessel reservation agreement with the developers of Dogger Bank – SSE Renewables, Equinor, and Vårgrønn – which was signed in December 2024.

The contract entails the utilization of the 2023-built Seaway Ventus jackup installation vessel for the transport and installation of GE Vernova Haliade-X offshore wind turbines at the Dogger Bank wind farm starting in mid-2026.

Seaway 7’s involvement in the Dogger Bank project extends beyond turbine installation. The company already holds contracts for the transport and installation of monopile foundations and transition pieces across all three phases of the development. The works on Dogger Bank A have been completed, and substantial progress has been made on Dogger Bank B.

Currently, turbine installation and commissioning activities are ongoing at Dogger Bank A, with the first phase of the offshore wind farm expected to be completed in the latter half of 2025. Once fully operational, Dogger Bank will stand as the world’s largest offshore wind farm, capable of providing sustainable energy to approximately 6 million homes in the UK annually.

SSE Renewables is spearheading the construction of the project in collaboration with Equinor, who will assume the role of lead operator for the wind farm upon completion, overseeing its expected operational lifespan of around 35 years.
