Eni and YPF Sign Agreement for Argentina LNG Project

Eni, a leading global energy company, has joined forces with Argentina’s energy giant YPF to advance the Argentina LNG (ARGLNG) project. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the development of this ambitious undertaking.

The agreement outlines the necessary steps to move towards the final investment decision for a crucial phase of the project. This phase encompasses the construction of production, treatment, transportation, and liquefaction facilities for gas using floating units, with a combined capacity of 12 million tons of LNG annually.

The ARGLNG project is a comprehensive initiative that aims to tap into the vast resources of the onshore Vaca Muerta field and cater to global markets. Its ultimate goal is to export up to 30 million tons of LNG per year by 2030, following a phased approach.

This recent agreement builds upon a memorandum of understanding signed on April 14, 2025, underscoring the commitment of both Eni and YPF to advancing the project. It represents a strategic leap forward in the maturation of the ARGLNG venture.

Eni’s selection as a strategic partner for the Argentina LNG project stems from its extensive expertise and experience in similar ventures. The company’s successful FLNG projects in Congo and Mozambique, coupled with its global leadership in executing projects with comparable technological demands, make it a valuable asset to the initiative.
