Valorem Joins Astenn Avel Consortium for Floating Wind Farm Project
French developer Valorem has partnered with the Astenn Avel consortium, which includes Elicio and Q Energy, to jointly apply for the AO9 tender for the extension of a floating wind farm off the coast of southern Brittany.
The project, located off the coast of Groix and Belle-Île-en-Mer, aims to add 500MW of installed capacity to the South Brittany area, with an expected commissioning date in 2032 or 2033.
This project is in close proximity to the 250MW Pennavel site owned by Elicio and BayWa, which is poised to become France’s first floating offshore wind farm.
Elicio brings a portfolio of over 2.3GW of offshore wind capacity, including 1.2GW in operation, while Q Energy has over 25 years of experience in the field and is the co-developer of a French offshore wind farm in Saint-Brieuc.
Valorem, known for its production of around 1 TWh of electricity annually from onshore wind, solar, and hydro power, has recently expanded its offshore wind projects by partnering with Sunly and Deep Wind Offshore to develop a 1GW offshore wind project in Estonian waters.
