Israel Strikes Houthi-Controlled Port of Hodeidah
The Israel Defense Forces have confirmed a recent attack on the Houthi-controlled port of Hodeidah, marking the thirteenth assault on Houthi positions. The IDF stated that the port is being used to receive arms shipments from Iran, prompting Israel to target the facilities to prevent any rebuilding.
According to reports from The Times of Israel, Israel deployed long-range drones for this latest assault, a departure from previous attacks that utilized fighter jets supported by spy planes and refueling air tankers. The recent strikes targeted engineering vehicles, fuel containers, naval vessels, and Iranian smuggled weapons that were reportedly used in attacks against Israel.
Since March 2025, the Houthis have launched numerous ballistic missiles and drones towards Israel, with most intercepted by Israeli defense systems. In response, Israel has intensified its efforts to prevent further attacks, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly urging the United States to join in the campaign against the militants.
Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, emphasized that the IDF will continue to prevent the restoration of previously targeted infrastructure in Yemen. He stated that any attempts to rebuild the facilities will be met with forceful enforcement, drawing a parallel between the fate of Yemen and Tehran, alluding to Israel’s actions against Iran.
Following the Israeli attacks, the Houthis claimed to have retaliated with assaults on five locations in Israel, including the port of Eilat, Ben Gurion Airport, and military targets near Tel Aviv. The conflict between Israel and the Houthis shows no signs of abating, with both sides escalating their attacks in a bid for control.
