Ambassador Cruise Lines Partners with Zelim for Cutting-Edge MOB Detection System

Edinburgh-based maritime safety innovator, Zelim, has recently announced a groundbreaking partnership with Ambassador Cruise Lines to install its state-of-the-art ZOE man overboard (MOB) detection system on the Ambition cruise ship. This collaboration marks Zelim’s foray into the global cruise ship sector, bringing advanced safety technology to the high seas.

Equipped with a full ZOE installation, the 1,200-passenger capacity Ambition cruise ship will benefit from instantaneous detection and tracking of individuals in the water following MOB incidents. The comprehensive installation includes multiple infrared and daylight cameras, sensors, and software that provide crews with 360° visibility, significantly enhancing the chances of spotting and rescuing an MOB.

According to Nick Hughes, COO of Ambassador Cruise Lines, “The safety of our passengers and crews is our top priority, which is why we chose to integrate ZOE onboard. This system offers peace of mind to all onboard, ensuring that in the rare event of an MOB incident, bridge teams are immediately alerted, and the individual is tracked until rescued. Additionally, ZOE can alert our watchkeepers to potential navigational hazards that may be difficult to spot.”

Stewart Gregory, Zelim’s Chief Operating Officer, highlighted the significance of Ambassador Cruise Lines’ decision to implement ZOE, stating, “Ambition serves as a beacon in the passenger ship sector, showcasing the availability of proven technology that mitigates the risk of MOB incidents, particularly in challenging conditions such as rough seas and low visibility.”

This strategic partnership not only underscores the commitment of both Zelim and Ambassador Cruise Lines to prioritizing safety at sea but also sets a new standard for maritime security in the cruise industry. As ZOE continues to revolutionize MOB detection capabilities, passengers and crew members can travel with confidence knowing that cutting-edge technology is on hand to ensure their safety.
