George Alexandratos Appointed as President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping

George Alexandratos has been appointed as the new president of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping. The general manager of Apollonia Lines takes over from George Pateras, who has led the government advisory body on all things shipping since 2016.

Alexandratos moves up from the position of vice president, which will now be filled by the director at Golden Union Shipping, George Gabriel.

Commenting on his appointment, Alexandratos said: “I would like to thank the shipping community for the trust they showed in me by electing me as the new president, as well as the executives for their valuable assistance in the daily requirements of the organisation. I would also like to express my deep gratitude, on behalf of the entire NEE family, as well as my own, to the outgoing president for nine consecutive years, Dr Georgios D Pateras, for his valuable contribution and his unparalleled ethos, elements which were decisive for the course of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.”

George’s father, Spyros Alexandratos, also led the chamber from 2000 until his sudden death in 2004 at the age of 57.
