Cadeler Secures Vessel Reservation Agreement with Ocean Winds for BC-Wind Project

Copenhagen-based offshore wind installation company Cadeler has recently inked a significant vessel reservation agreement with Ocean Winds, the developer behind the BC-Wind project. The agreement entails the installation and transportation of approximately 30 wind turbine generators at the BC-Wind offshore wind farm situated in the Polish Baltic Sea.

The potential value of the contract, which is yet to be finalized, is projected to range between €48m and €56m ($49.8m and $56.1m). Cadeler plans to utilize one of its O-class vessels for the project, with completion scheduled for 2028.

While Cadeler and Ocean Winds have collaborated on previous projects, including the Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland, this marks their first direct contractual relationship.

BC-Wind, boasting a capacity of up to 500MW, is strategically located approximately 23 km off the Polish coastline. Cadeler’s involvement in the Polish offshore wind market is not new, having secured contracts for Equinor and Polenergia’s Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects, slated for commencement in 2027.

Furthermore, Cadeler is set to embark on Ørsted and PGE’s Baltica 2 project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The company is also gearing up for the 1.2GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm, expected to be operational by 2026.

In a recent development, Cadeler signed two contracts with undisclosed clients for its latest wind installation vessel, Wind Mover, valued at over $75m. The agreement will kick off immediately upon the vessel’s delivery.
