ABS and FLOWRA Collaborate to Advance Floating Offshore Wind Power Technology

ABS, a global leader in marine and offshore safety, has recently partnered with the Floating Offshore Wind Power Technology Research Association (FLOWRA) of Japan to drive innovation and exploration in the floating offshore wind industry. This collaboration comes as a significant step towards enhancing safety standards and technological advancements in the renewable energy sector.

FLOWRA, a prominent technical research association, focuses on developing fundamental technologies for floating offshore wind projects in collaboration with international organizations. ABS’s Commitment to Safety Excellence

With a rich history spanning over 160 years, ABS has been at the forefront of promoting safety excellence in the marine and offshore sectors. By joining forces with FLOWRA, ABS aims to leverage its extensive experience in offshore energy to contribute to the development of practical standards and requirements for the floating wind industry.

Rob Langford, ABS Vice President of Global Offshore Renewables, emphasized the importance of collaboration with industry leaders in shaping the future of safety standards for floating offshore wind projects. He highlighted the shared interests of ABS and FLOWRA in fostering a safer environment for the global floating wind industry.

FLOWRA’s Vision for Innovation

Masakatsu Terasaki, Chairperson of FLOWRA’s Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with ABS. He acknowledged ABS’s reputation as a leading classification society and certification body in the floating offshore wind sector. Terasaki emphasized the significance of combining ABS’s technical expertise and risk management capabilities with FLOWRA’s initiatives to drive optimization and cost reduction in floating offshore wind power systems.
