Alewijnse joins Oceanco

Dutch yacht builder Oceanco has recently acquired Dutch electrical systems integrator Alewijnse. This acquisition comes after seven successful years under the ownership of Strong Root Capital, during which Alewijnse significantly strengthened and professionalized its operations.

The acquisition of Alewijnse by Oceanco follows the recent ownership change of Oceanco by gaming developer and tech entrepreneur Gabe Newell. Despite the change in ownership, Alewijnse will continue to operate independently within the Oceanco Group, as stated in a release by the company.

Having collaborated on yacht projects since the 1990s, the partnership between Oceanco and Alewijnse has a long-standing history in the maritime industry.

Gert Bravenboer, CEO of Alewijnse, expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the company, stating, “Joining the Oceanco Group is a natural progression in the advancement of our organization. We are enhancing our market position while maintaining our unique identity, with a focus on electrical systems integration in both maritime and industrial sectors.”

Marcel Onkenhout, CEO of Oceanco, added, “The integration of Alewijnse into the Oceanco Group presents an opportunity for us to develop new solutions and innovations that benefit not only the yachting industry but also other maritime sectors.”

Patrick Zanders, partner at Strong Root Capital, commended Alewijnse’s management for their growth and strategic vision over the past seven years. He expressed pride in the company’s achievements and the transition of ownership to Oceanco and Gabe Newell, emphasizing the continuation and expansion of Alewijnse’s success.
