Norwegian offshore service provider Archer awarded contract by Equinor

Norwegian offshore service provider Archer has secured a contract from Equinor for the planning of permanent plug and abandonment of the Snorre UPA and Heidrun B and C templates.

Archer, in collaboration with its well engineering joint venture with Elemental Energies, will oversee end-to-end services including planning, well engineering, and executing the permanent well abandonment operations.

The Snorre UPA subsea template, equipped with ten well slots, is strategically positioned in the field and linked to Snorre A. Oil and gas extracted from Snorre A is transported to the nearby Statfjord A platform for final processing.

Additionally, the storage vessel Heidrun B has been securely anchored at the Heidrun field since 2015.

CEO of Archer, Dag Skindlo, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Equinor and emphasized the cost-effective approach of combining well barrier design with well service specialists and innovative solutions to benefit operators.
