Lime Petroleum Secures Borr Drilling Jackup Rig for Benin Operations

Lime Petroleum, a subsidiary of Singapore-based Rex International, has recently made a significant move by signing a deal to hire a Borr Drilling-owned jackup rig for operations off the coast of Benin.

The agreement involves the deployment of the Gerd jackup rig for a period of 120 days, marking a strategic partnership between the two entities.

The primary focus of the rig will be the Sèmè field located in Benin, which is operated by Akrake Petroleum Benin, a subsidiary of Lime Petroleum. Akrake holds a majority working interest of approximately 76% in the Sèmè Field and is planning to submit a comprehensive field development plan to the Ministry of Energy, Water, and Mines in Benin. The ultimate goal is to resume production activities in the field during the latter half of 2025.

The Gerd jackup rig, built in 2018, is currently engaged in operations for Eni in Congo. Its ongoing contract commenced in December and is scheduled to conclude in May 2025. Following this assignment, the rig has secured a letter of agreement for additional work in West Africa from June to September 2025, further solidifying its presence in the region.
