Britoil Offshore Services Announces Major Fleet Expansion Plan
Offshore support vessel (OSV) owner Britoil Offshore Services has unveiled a significant fleet expansion strategy by ordering up to eight new anchor handling tug vessels (AHTs) to be constructed in China.
The Singapore-based company has inked a deal with Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard for six confirmed AHT newbuilds, with provisions for an additional two vessels. While specific financial terms and delivery timelines remain undisclosed, Britoil has highlighted that these new additions will represent a substantial progression in its nearly four-decade history in anchor handling operations.
Measuring 45 meters in length, each vessel will provide 80 tons of bollard pull and will be equipped with advanced propulsion systems, optimized hull designs, and increased fuel storage capacity. Britoil has stated that these upgrades aim to enhance operational efficiency and align with the company’s overarching fleet renewal strategy.
